Emmanuel House

Helping working class families

Emmanuel House is a non-profit located in the heart of Aurora dedicated to helping working-class families save and work their way out of poverty.

Families that own their own homes:

  • 25% more likely to graduate students from high school
  • 116% more likely to graduate students from college
  • four times less likely to relocate
  • know their neighbors and are more involved in local schools
  • Neighborhoods are safer and communities more stable

Church Sponsors and volunteers are the key support network of Emmanuel House’s 18-month program. Churches provide volunteers to do home maintenance and build life-changing friendships with participating families. Without church help, Emmanuel House’s program fails. With it, the future is rewritten.

Current Opportunities to Serve
We are always in need of volunteer work-groups. We can host work groups between 5-20 people per project site. We have several properties that need cleaning, beautification and/or maintenance-type projects. Projects include yard work/cleaning, painting, handyman projects and organizing. Work projects for groups larger than 5 people are seasonal and consist of spring and fall yard clean up.
