We started the morning with a devotion that challenged us to step out of our comfort zone and do things differently. We read about Jesus calling Peter to get out of the boat and walk on the water. This was a good word for us to hear before heading downtown to hand out care packages to people in need.
We assembled our care packages yesterday and headed to downtown Nashville to deliver them to people who seemed like they could use a bit of encouragement. It did not take long for us to find folks who were waiting to receive a blessing. We were able to spend time talking with a number of men and women in the park, praying for people and reminding them that God loves them. Eye opening. Humbling.
Then we headed to the home of some folks who were excited to receive a few helping hands. Do any of these people look familiar?
Yes! It’s the Ward Family! The Wards moved about 5 miles from where we’ve been staying in the Nashville area. It was our blessing to go to their new home and help them move in – well, we’re SAD they’ve moved so far away from us, but it was sweet to be able to help our church family today. A special thanks to Kelly for the Dairy Queen treats 🙂
During the evening session we were challenged to experience Jesus in our lives, not just observe Him from a distance. That God’s intention is for our faith to deepen and mature and for us to take our SLE experience beyond this week, allowing God to change us to be different people when we return home.
Tomorrow is our last work day and we’ll be heading to an elementary school to do some cleaning inside and outside. It’s been SO HOT here, so we’re praying that God gives us strength and endurance so that we can serve well and finish strong!
Time to get to bed early tonight so we’ll have lots of energy tomorrow,
Thankful for your love and prayers,
